Paul McCary has practiced law in the energy and public utility areas since 1981. He co-chairs the Firm’s Energy Industry Group. Beginning with early PURPA projects and moving through industry restructuring, he negotiated power sales agreements and appeared in many regulatory proceedings before the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority involving utility divestiture, standard service procurement, retail supply, electric submetering and distributed generation incentives. Paul is the author of several articles concerning cogeneration, including “Cogeneration in Connecticut” which appeared in the Connecticut Bar Journal. He co-authored a chapter of a book published by the American Bar Association on evaluating competitive electricity offers. He served on the Connecticut General Assembly’s Electric Industry Restructuring Task Force. He co-authored an article on microgrids which was published in the March 2013 edition of Public Utilities Fortnightly. Paul serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut Law School teaching Energy Regulation and Policy.
