Gerald Weseen is Vice President of US Government Affairs, Clean Power Northeast Development (Emera, Inc)
Gerald is responsible for government and stakeholder relations at Clean Power Northeast Development, an Emera Inc. subsidiary focused on renewable energy and transmission development in New England and northeastern North America.
Emera Inc. is a geographically diverse energy and services company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The company invests in electricity generation, transmission and
distribution, gas transmission and distribution, and utility energy services with a focus on transformation from high carbon to low carbon energy sources.
Emera has investments throughout North America, and in four Caribbean countries.
Prior to his current role, Gerald was Senior Director, Government Relations for Emera. He served more than four years as head of public affairs at Emera’s largest Canadian
operating company, Nova Scotia Power. Until 2007, Gerald held a senior government affairs and communications role with Sobeys Inc., a national Canadian grocery retailer based in Nova Scotia. He was a practice leader at Atlantic Canada’s largest public affairs consultancy, and served for five years as a communications, policy and government relations advisor for the Minister of Health in the government of the Province of New Brunswick.
Gerald spent 15 years as a journalist, working in five Canadian provinces. For seven years, he was a national reporter for the broadcast service of The Canadian Press.
Gerald is a member of the executive committee of the New England-Canada Business Council and is active on energy policy issues with the New England Council and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Advisory Board of The Sobey School of Business (Saint Mary’s University, Nova Scotia).
Gerald is based in Boston, where he lives with his wife Julie.
