ISO New England’s 2025–2034 Forecast Report of Capacity, Energy, Loads, and Transmission projects the region’s annual electricity consumption will increase by about 11 percent over the next decade, driven primarily by the electrification of heating systems and transportation. In addition to the potential increases in demand from data centers, we will need to invest in new and existing energy infrastructure improvements to meet these forecasted increases.
