Ellen G. Cool, Ph. D., is a Vice President and Principal at Levitan & Associates, Inc., a Boston-based management consulting firm. She advises private and public sector clients on competitive procurement options for wholesale power supply, including project financed HVDC transmission projects, natural gas-fired plants, renewable generation projects, and cogeneration development. Dr. Cool is responsible for the firm’s environmental advisory services, including analysis of regulatory compliance strategies, emission allowance markets, renewable portfolio standards, and siting and permitting support for new generation, transmission, and natural gas infrastructure projects.
Prior to joining Levitan & Associates, Inc. in 1999, Dr. Cool was a Principal with Harding Lawson Associates, Inc. (formerly ABB Environmental Services, Inc.), and also worked at TRC Corporation and Woodward Clyde Consultants. Dr. Cool has worked for mining companies in minerals exploration and mine development. Dr. Cool received an A.B. in Geological Sciences from Harvard University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Washington.
